MOCONA FALLS

A geological fault gives us this unique wonder in the world..

PARQUE DAS AVES

The Moconá Provincial Park is located within the Yabotí (Tortoise in Guarani) Biosphere Reserve, in the east-central region of Misiones, occupying an approximate area of 253,773 hectares.

The main attraction of this park is the Moconá Falls, unique in the world for having developped from a longitudinal fissure in the middle of the Uruguay River. This particularity is the result of a geological fault that occurred millions of years ago.

The characteristic of these falls is directly related to the height of their cascades, which varies from 2 to almost 10 meters depending on the river's water level which are directly affected by the rainfall.

The falls are located in Argentina and the only way to get to them is through this tour.

How to visit:

Moconá is located 260 km from Puerto Iguazú (4 hours) by land, once we arrive at the Visitors' Center we will move to the boarding area (200 meters) by the river from where the river trip begins in boats equipped with all the safety requirements. A trained guide will accompany visitors throughout the experience.

Another alternative which we recommend is to visit Moconá with accommodation using one of the Lodges or Cabins offered. This will assure more experience a opportunities as well as allowing combination with other activities in the area.
