Wetland (Pantanal)

The largest floodplain on the planet, an ecosystem made up of flooded areas, rich in fauna, the Pantanal is unique in the world...

It is the largest floodplain on the planet with an area of 150,000 km2, consisting of a large hydrographic network of which the Paraguay River is the most important. Home to countless animal species, many in danger of extinction, (Monkeys, Blue Macaws, Deer, Capybaras, caymans, Herons, Spoonbills and Jabiru)storks are easily located.

How to get:
The Pantanal is located in Western Brazil, in the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, about 900 km north of Iguaçu Falls.
Although it is possible to get there by land, it is best to do so by air through Campo Grande (South Pantanal) or Cuiabá (North Pantanal).

Seasons:
November to May is the rainy season, when the rivers rise and flood the plain. The animals take refuge in dry, slightly higher and more secluded areas.
June to October is the dry season, less rain and colder weather is when the animals concentrate in shallower ponds, which makes them easier to be spotted.

Activities:
Boat safari, Hiking in riverside forests and on the Pantanal plain, cayman sighting, paddle safari, horseback riding through plains and swamps, snorkeling in the Salobra River (except in the months of August and November), bicycle, peeling with magnesium limestone clay, birdwatching and so on.

Approximate duration of each activity: 3 hours
Recommended stay: Minimum 2 nights (3 nights recommended).
